Latex Allergy

How does one become allergic to latex?

To develop an allergy to something you must have been exposed to the substance at least once previously. Your body then develops an immune response, and you become "sensitized" to the substance. You can have an allergic reaction after any added exposure to the substance.

Therefore, people who have, or have had, repeated exposure to natural rubber latex products may be at higher risk of developing a latex allergy those who don’t have repeated exposures.
