Saint John Zone E-Learning Initiative

Established in March 2000, AHSC now has 67 e-learning programs available to its employees, accessible through the organizational Intranet. We are fortunate to have realized some success in these areas:

  • Recipient of the Ted Freedman Award for Innovation in Education in Health, Health Services and Health Management for developing and utilizing the corporate Intranet in e-learning. 2002/03.
  • Presentation at the Annual Meeting of Canadian Telehealth Association in Vancouver, 2002.
  • Article published in Canadian Healthcare Technology, Vol.7(6), 2002.
  • Presentation at the Annual HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) Conference, San Diego, February 2003. Related Case Study was published on the HIMSS CDROM.
  • In 2006/2007, AHSC employees completed 26,357 e-learning programs - an average of 8 hours of e-learning per employee.
  • In 2006/2007, the highest completion rates were for the WHIMIS, Cleans Hands Good Health and Emergency Codes progrmas.

As of 2008, we have developed more than 67 e-learning programs.

The AHSC e-learning programs are the intellectual property of the Atlantic Health Sciences Corporation and cannot be reproduced, reprinted or represented in part or in whole without the written permission of the author and the Atlantic Health Sciences Corporation.

We share our e-learning with other New Brunswick RHA's with educational partners and other external users.
