Complications from infusion therapies or interventions can be unpleasant, painful, and can interfere with recovery. Vascular Support Services of Atlantic Health Sciences Corporation is committed to developing and maintaining the highest possible standards of practice on evidence based research. This commitment allows patients to be confident that every effort is made to promote a complication-free experience. IV Day Hospital The IV Day Hospital, located at the Saint John Regional Hospital, was developed to manage a patient population that could safely receive treatments on an outpatient basis. The staff work closely with the Extra Mural Program ensuring safe delivery of intravenous therapy at home. The IV Day Hospital has expanded its role beyond intravenous interventions and performs numerous other treatments such as complex dressing changes and specific patient monitoring. A Home T.P.N. (Total Parenteral Nutrition) Program is part of the IV Day Hospital. Patients are taught to maintain their own infusions and access devices. T.P.N. is tailored to their specific nutritional requirements and these patients can carry on their activities of daily living while receiving their nutritional requirements through a portable pump.
