Palliative Care

Administrative Director:
Laurie Janes

Clinical Department Head:
Dr. Chris O'Brien, Palliative Care

Palliative Care is provided on all nursing units, but the program is very proud of its eight-bed palliative care unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital. This unit is managed by two physicians and nurses. Family physicians may attend to their own patients following a consultation process for admission to the unit. Palliative care service has been extended to designated beds at Charlotte County Hospital and Sussex Health Centre. Region-wide policies are being implemented to provide consistent patient care.

The program and department continue to evolve with the changes in today's health care environment.
