Otolaryngology

Administrative Director:
Cheryl Swan

Clinical Department Head:
Dr. David Tees

Otolaryngology services provides patients of all ages with a wide range of treatment for inflammatory and malignant head and neck conditions. Comprehensive diagnostic, surgical and rehabilitative services are provided in close association with other clinical specialties and support departments. Inpatient, day surgery and consultation are available at the Saint John Regional Hospital, with day surgery services also provided at the Sussex Health Centre, St. Joseph’s and Charlotte County Hospitals. A stroboscopy unit, located in Clinic at the Saint John Regional Hospital, is used to diagnose and monitor throat disorders, and is the only such unit in New Brunswick. Purchase of state-of-the-art technology - an Instratrak - has enabled the surgeons in this Department to perform image guided surgery for sinus surgery and advanced ENT procedures. This system clearly depicts the anatomy and the extent of the disease present and assists in locating the optimal site for safely entering the sinus.
