Neurosciences

Administrative Director:
Jill Barton-MacPhee

Clinical Department Head:
Dr. George Kolyvas, Neurosurgery

Division Head:
Dr. Gregg MacLean

The Neurosciences program was the first established unit in the province and has been meeting the needs of New Brunswickers with comprehensive services for more than 40 years. The program handles 50 per cent of the province’s adult and paediatric neurosurgery cases, with 55 per cent of all referrals coming from outside Health Region 2. Up-to-date assessment, diagnosis, treatment and education for patients with nervous system disorders is provided by a dedicated team of Neurosurgeons, Neurologists, including a Paediatric Neurologist, and specialized nursing staff. Community education and injury prevention is an increasingly integral part of the Neurosciences program, which actively participates in the North American program ‘Think First’, annual Teddy Bear Fairs, and other local, provincial and national health promotion initiatives.
