Before you leave the hospital, on the day of discharge, you will be given a prescription for any new medications that you have been placed on while in the hospital and also any medications required for pain.

There is a pharmacist on duty Monday to Friday on the orthopaedic unit who is available to answer any questions you may have. Your nurse, physician or the nurse associate may teach you about your medications as well. Your community pharmacist is another resource person who can answer questions. It is important to have an understanding of what you are taking and why.
