If you have not already picked up equipment in preparation for your
surgery, then be prepared to stop on your way home.
You will need:
- High toilet seat
- Grab bars for bathroom
- Tub bench

($36.80): sock aid, long handled reacher, long handled sponge, long handled shoe horn.
Contact: the Physical Medicine department at the hospital 648-6912. Bring this kit to
the hospital with you to use and put your name on it. You can practice using it before
you come (Click here to see a
short video demonstrating this). Items from this kit can also be purchased
separately from local medical supplies stores.

Walker, cane or crutches depending on your physiotherapist’s advice in
hospital. Send your support buddy to pick up the walking aids once you
know what you will need.
Your Options are to loan, rent or buy. Some insurance plans may cover medical equipment.
