Individuals receiving oxygen services require oxygen therapy to treat or prevent hypoxia and to improve quality of life.  Home oxygen therapy is provided in acute care as well as through the Seniors’ Long Term Oxygen Program.

Goal of Oxygen Service

The goal of Oxygen Services is to increase or maintain an oxygen saturation level of 90% and/or to provide palliative comfort.

Eligibility Criteria of Oxygen Service

To be eligible for long term oxygen home care services the client must:

  • Meet the generic eligibility criteria
  • Meet the Long-Term Oxygen Program criteria for the provision of home oxygen therapy
  • Be sixty-five or older for Long Term Oxygen
  • Have an attending physician who has admitting privileges to a regional hospital corporation and who completes the Home Oxygen Referral form and is agreeable to be the attending physician
