OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS look at how you are managing daily activities in your home, school, or workplace. They are knowledgeable about equipment or methods that will help you to continue doing these things as safely and independently as possible.
Occupational therapy interventions in community care are based on a client centered, problem solving approach. Therapists work toward the promotion of health, and the resolution of dysfunctional performance of activities in the areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure. The individual’s unique lifestyle, socio-cultural environment, and community support systems are taken into context. Review the common roles and responsibilities of the EMP team members. The thing I enjoy the most as an Occupational Therapist with EMP is being out and about in the community and in clients’ home environment. It is more personal and meaningful for the client and the OT. What better place to assist clients with their daily functioning than in their own homes!
The client population we work with at EMP is adults from 18 to seniors both living in their own homes and in nursing homes. Others focus their treatments only with children both at home and in the school setting.
