Ask us, Tell us

Do you have a question about Atlantic Health Sciences Corporation and the services we deliver?

Do you have a suggestion, idea or concern you would like us to know more about?

If so, we are pleased to provide you with an opportunity to either ask us, or tell us during our regular Open Board meetings. We have modified our agenda to provide for:

  • a public question period
  • a public presentation period

We invite you to take advantage of these initiatives and help us build a stronger partnership for health care services in our region.

A. How to ask us

The Public Question Period is a regular agenda time period of up to 15 minutes at the close of the Open Session. It is available for members of the general public, or representatives of allied health and community groups present to ask questions on matters relating to the general governance and operations of AHSC or the organization.

The guidelines governing the public question period are as follows:

  • Persons wishing to ask a question must make their intentions known to the Chair prior to the start of the meeting

  • Each person asking a question will identify themselves by name, their community and any group affiliation.

  • All questions must be directed to the Chair.

  • Each person, or group representative, will be permitted one question and one supplementary.

  • The Chair will determine whether the question is 'in order' (ie, does it deal with the general governance and operations of AHSC) and direct the response, including taking the question under advisement where it is appropriate to do so.

  • When a question is taken under advisement the Chair will identify the time and means by which an answer will be provided.

B. How to tell us

The Public Presentation period is a period of 15 minutes which may be allocated, upon request, to members of the general public, allied health and community groups to make presentations to the Board on matters pertaining to the general governance and operations of the Corporation.*

The following guidelines apply to the Public Presentation period:

  • Individuals or groups wishing to make a formal presentation to the Board must submit a written request stating the subject of the presentation at least three weeks prior to the Board meeting. Requests are to be addressed to:

      Secretary to the Board
      P. O. Box 2100
      Saint John NB E2L 4L2
      Fax: 506-648-6364
      email: cropa@reg2.health.nb.ca

Any requirements for overhead projectors or other support should also be identified.

  • The Chair will assess requests on the basis of their applicability to the general governance and operations of the corporation, and provide a response within two weeks of the scheduled meeting.

  • A reason will be provided for any request denied.

  • A copy of the presentation must be forwarded to the Board Chair a least one week prior to the scheduled Board meeting.

  • Presentations may be up to a maximum of 15 minutes.

  • The Board, through the Chair, may ask questions of the presenter following the presentation.

  • The Chair will take any requests for a specific response under advisement and identify a response timeframe and process.
