February 13, 2007 Visiting restrictions are lifted on the Seventh Floor, St. Joseph’s Hospital, but continue at Ridgewood Veterans Wing Visiting restrictions in place at Ridgewood Veterans Wing continue as one new case of Norwalk-like virus is reported. With no new cases on the Seventh Floor of St. Joseph’s Hospital, visiting restrictions there have been lifted. Patients must be symptom free for 48 hours before visiting restrictions are lifted. Visiting is restricted at Ridgewood Veterans Wing to immediate family members only as a precautionary infection control measure and will remain in effect until risk to patients and staff is low. We remind visitors to the Saint John Regional Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Ridgewood Addictions Services, Centracare, St. Joseph’s Community Health Centre, Lonewater Farm, Charlotte County Hospital, Sussex Health Centre and Grand Manan Hospital that you should not visit if you are exhibiting symptoms of vomiting or diarrhea. You should be free of all symptoms for 48 hours before you visit. The best preventive measure to stop the spread of this virus is to use good hygiene, particularly proper hand washing. The public is invited to go to the following website for a demonstration on hand washing http://www.ahsc.health.nb.ca/cleanhandsahsc/cleanhandsworkingahsc.html
