February 12, 2007 Visiting restrictions continue at Ridgewood Veterans Wing and the Seventh Floor, St. Joseph’s Hospital Visiting restrictions in place at Ridgewood Veterans Wing and the Seventh Floor at St. Joseph’s Hospital continue. There are no new cases of patients exhibiting Norwalk-like symptoms at either at Ridgewood Veterans Wing or St. Joseph’s Hospital. However we continue to monitor patients at both facilities. Patients must be symptom free for 48 hours before we would consider lifting visiting restrictions. Visiting is restricted to immediate family members only as a precautionary infection control measure and will remain in effect until risk to patients and staff is low. There are currently no new cases in other hospitals in Health Region 2; however we do remind visitors to the Saint John Regional Hospital, Ridgewood Addictions Services, Centracare, St. Joseph’s Community Health Centre, Lonewater Farm, Charlotte County Hospital, Sussex Health Centre and Grand Manan Hospital that you should not visit if you are exhibiting symptoms of vomiting or diarrhea. You should be free of all symptoms for 48 hours before you visit. The best preventive measure to stop the spread of this virus is to use good hygiene, particularly proper hand washing. The public is invited to go to the following website for a demonstration on hand washing http://www.ahsc.health.nb.ca/cleanhandsahsc/cleanhandsworkingahsc.html
