June 28, 2006 The Board of Directors of Atlantic Health Sciences Corporation held its annual meeting Monday, June 26 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Ken Baird, Vice-president of Clinical and Facility Support Programs presented a Master Space Plan for the Saint John Regional Hospital. “The master plan we have now developed focuses on the best and most efficient and effective use of all spaces within the facility over a ten-year period,” Baird said. “The study reviewed all programs, services and departments at the Saint John Regional Hospital, identifying the physical adjustments needed to meet the needs of our patients. In addition to focusing on resolving over-crowding and confidentiality issues, this study also assessed a number of key site planning issues, including traffic patterns, access to key building entries (main entrance, emergency services, staff and shipping/receiving) and parking capacity.” “The Master plan involves a phased-in approach that will see a redevelopment process over 10 years,” continued Baird. Other highlights of the annual meeting included reflections on the past year by Board Chairman, William Teed, Q.C. and CEO Dora Nicinski.
