Celebrating Achievements!

Saint John - A celebration was held today at the Saint John Regional Hospital to recognize Atlantic Health Sciences Corporation’s Achievements over the previous fiscal year. The celebration was hosted by the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation and acknowledged special achievements attained by individuals and departments at AHSC.

Dora Nicinski, President and CEO, noted “We recognize that people are our most valuable resource. I am pleased to be able to celebrate the awards and accomplishments that we have shared over the past year.”

William Teed, Q.C., Chairman of AHSC’s Board of Directors noted, "Each of these achievements represents vision, innovation, and dedication of our employees and volunteers.”

Some of the innovative ideas recognized at today’s event included Dr. Elizabeth MacDonald, physician with geriatric medicine who was selected as the New Brunswick Specialist of the year for 2006 and AHSC’s Trauma Program received a Public Safety Award from the New Brunswick Department of Public Safety.

The celebration also recognized all of the dedicated and industrious staff members who had completed degrees or certifications in their professions or areas of specialty. “There are so many who have achieved personal or educational milestones that we simply could not name them all in today’s celebration,” said Tim Cameron, Executive Director of the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation. “However we certainly do recognize the importance of their achievements. It is through their continuing commitment to professional development that AHSC is able to provide excellent, quality care to patients.”

Cameron also acknowledged the contribution of staff members and volunteers who donate time and energy to Foundation fundraisers and highlighted the generous gift from Dr. Paul Handa who created the Dr. S. Paul Handa Award for Excellence in Nephrology Nursing.
