Horizon Health Network, headquartered in Miramichi, is the largest health authority in Atlantic Canada. Horizon delivers quality patient focused health care in both official languages to residents in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and northern Nova Scotia. Based at the Saint John Regional Hospital, the successful candidate will join the Oncology team to provide clinical support for patients in the Oncology outpatient area at the Saint John Regional Hospital. This individual will provide support and assessment of patients receiving chemotherapy as well as follow up care upon completion of cancer treatment. As the needs of patients and their caregivers are multifaceted the successful individual will provide care or guidance in all realms including physical, emotional and psychosocial components. The Adult Oncology Centre has been designated as a tertiary centre for Radiation and Medical Oncology in New Brunswick and is at the forefront of multidisciplinary cancer care in the province. The Department has an active clinical trials unit and is involved with many NCIC, RTOG and Industry Studies. The Saint John Regional Hospital is a 529 bed teaching hospital affiliated with Dalhousie University with resident trainees in many disciplines. In the near future, the Dalhousie New Brunswick Medical Education Program will be based on the adjacent property to the Saint John Regional Hospital at the University of New Brunswick, Saint John campus. Saint John is a thriving industrial centre situated at the mouths of the St. John and Kennebecasis Drivers on the scenic Bay of Fundy. Recreational opportunities include easy access to picturesque inland waterways, golfing, skiing, etc. The city also boasts excellent educational and cultural facilities, including a campus of the University of New Brunswick, which offers a wide variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Applicants must be eligible for licensure in New Brunswick and hold Family Medicine certification from the Canadian College of Family Physicians or equivalent certification and experience.
