Family Physicians - Saint John

Atlantic Health Sciences Corporation, Department of Family Medicine is actively seeking Family Physicians to establish practice in Saint John, New Brunswick. There are many opportunities for Family Physicians in Saint John and surrounding communities. Positions are available to quickly establish a full-time family practice in either solo or group practice settings. Locum opportunities are always available within established practices within the city and surrounding area.

The Saint John Regional Hospital is a 650-bed tertiary care teaching centre, with an active Family Medicine teaching program affiliated with Dalhousie University. There are 20 clinical specialty programs including provincial tertiary services in Oncology, Cardiac care, Dialysis and Neurosciences. There are developing opportunities to become actively involved in family medicine teaching programs at Dalhousie University and Memorial University of Newfoundland. Saint John being a provincial tertiary care hospital has a solid base of specialists/consultants providing excellent referral and consulting services to both community and in-hospital Family Physicians. Saint John further offers a well developed home care program (Extra-mural program) and Palliative Care program that works closely with all disciplines providing a seamless continuum of care for patients.

Saint John is an outstanding family orientated community with a population of approximately 100,000. It is situated in the picturesque Bay of Fundy in Southern New Brunswick and is located on one of the finest inland waterways in North America. Saint John offers numerous social and cultural facilities as well as recreational opportunities including boating, yachting, winter sports, golf, hunting and fishing. Being the only official bilingual province, there is access to both English and French school systems. The Saint John campus of the University of New Brunswick is adjacent to the Saint John Regional Hospital and offers a wide variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

Physicians in the Department of Family Medicine participate in community-based care, in-hospital care, palliative care, geriatrics, obstetrics, paediatrics and community health centres. There are a variety of opportunities under different settings for the practice of family medicine.

Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick.
